In January 2021, NHAI began the ~86 km, 6-lane Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway — an access-controlled greenfield corridor of roughly ₹4,000+ crore, the spine connecting the SIR to Ahmedabad.
Why it matters to Dholera: the expressway is the single most visible promise of the project — a commute measured in minutes, not hours. Its kick-off moved the corridor from sanction to steel in the ground.
Verification note: land-acquisition litigation along the route was still being resolved into 2022 (the DSIRDA CEO even tendered an apology in the Gujarat High Court over farmland acquisition in January 2022) — we keep that friction on the record.
