5,000 MW Dholera Solar Park announced — one of India's largest

In April 2018, the Gujarat government announced plans for a 5,000 MW ultra-mega solar park spread across roughly 11,000 hectares inside Dholera SIR — among the largest solar parks envisioned in India, with the first 1 GW tender expected soon after.

Why it matters to Dholera: power availability is a make-or-break input for semiconductor fabs, data centres and advanced manufacturing. The park was planned to supply renewable power to SIR industries and feed the national grid — a cost and sustainability advantage few industrial sites can offer.

What came next: CM Rupani announced the park publicly at Dholera the same month (see the CETP and pipeline foundations), and Tata Power took the first major allocations from 2019 onward.
