By road: the expressway changed the answer
Before March 2026, the trip ran on older state highways through town centres - two and a half to three hours. The Ahmedabad-Dholera Greenfield Expressway replaced that: 109.019 km from Sarkhej on Ahmedabad's Sardar Patel Ring Road to Adhelai near Bhavnagar, access-controlled, designated NH-751 and NE-8.

By rail
No passenger rail serves Dholera today. The Sarkhej-Dholera semi-high-speed rail line was approved in May 2026 - about ₹20,667 crore, with a completion horizon up to 2030-31 - and is currently at tender stage. The approval record is dated; operations are not.
By air
Dholera's own international airport is under construction, reported about 80% complete at the July 2026 official review, with operationalisation targeted for late 2026. Until flights begin, the nearest commercial airports are Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Bhavnagar.
