Dholera metro and MRTS: what is actually planned

Search "Dholera metro" and you will find confident claims. The verified record supports a narrower answer: a reported approval, no construction, and a rail line that is real.

What was reported

An Ahmedabad-DSIR MRTS (Metro Rail Transit System) was reported approved around January 2021. Its current status is unclear, and it likely overlaps with - or has been superseded by - the semi-high-speed rail project approved in May 2026. We carry the report as a report, not as a confirmed project.

What does not exist

There is no confirmed metro construction on the ground in Dholera, and no operational metro service. Any claim of a running or under-construction Dholera metro should be treated as unverified until a dated official record shows otherwise.

What is real

Two things are verifiable. First, the built environment reserves room for future transit: the underground utility corridors running beneath the Activation Area's roads leave the central median clear for a future transit corridor. Second, the Sarkhej-Dholera semi-high-speed rail line was approved in May 2026 - about ₹20,667 crore, completion horizon up to 2030-31 - and is at tender stage. That is the funded, dated transit link.

How to read metro claims

When a listing or brochure says "metro connectivity", ask for the dated record. The honest summary: reported plans exist, nothing metro-scale is built, and the rail line with money behind it is the one to track.
